Gemma Thompson, BioHorizons Camlog Education Manager UK & Ireland, reassures the profession that there is still a world of opportunity in implant education during a global pandemic.

Without a doubt, the COVID-19 pandemic created numerous challenges for the world of dental education, as face-to-face courses, events and mentoring are disrupted amidst quarantine and lockdown measures. To support clinical learning and CPD maintenance, dental educators have had to work hard to rapidly adopt new ways of teaching and learning.

The pandemic forced upon us a digitalisation of education, including online networking platforms, virtual reality learning, on-demand webinars and even live social media feeds. But even if online learning continues to play a more centric role in our lives, dentistry, and in particular implant dentistry, still requires a hands-on, practical element to advance core skills.

So, what are your implant education options with BioHorizons Camlog during a pandemic?

Safeguarding your education

While many institutions have chosen to close their facilities or stop face-to-face courses altogether in 2021, here at BioHorizons Camlog we have implemented numerous ‘staying safe’ protocols and measures to safeguard delegates, lecturers and staff alike across our education facilities.

This includes, but is not limited to, sending out a covid-19 questionnaire to all delegates before course commencement, taking the delegates temperature upon arrival and ensuring suitable PPE and sanitisation products are available.

We offer courses for every member of the dental team and, when appropriate, we encourage dentists to bring team members with them to our events. Whilst lockdown eases, we have decreased the number of delegates that can attend our events and adapted rooms to allow for safe social distancing. A more intimate session also allows for greater one-to-one training with our lecturers.

Teasers and on-demand webinars

We understand that committing to any course or education can be difficult at the best of times, and especially so during a pandemic where travel and finances may be a concern.

Whilst we don’t have a magic ball to predict the future, we do offer FREE to attend online ‘teaser’ webinars (incl. 1-hour CPD) to give you and your team a better understanding of what our courses entail and to meet the speaker(s) before making that final commitment.

And if you happen to miss out on the live ‘taster’ event, not to worry – our live webinars are available to watch on-demand at your convenience.
